Bebington League — Captain Login: How to Access Your Team Portal

Bebington League

Captain Login — Bebington League

Each team in the Bebington League now has its own secure login so captains can manage their squad, enter results, and track player handicaps without needing a full site account.

How the login works

Head to the Captain Login page (the "Team Login" screen) and enter your code. There are two types of code:

  • Club / Team Code (e.g. GLD246) — shared across every team in your club. This opens the Club Dashboard, where you can see all of your club's teams across both leagues and then pick the specific team you want to manage.
  • Captain Code (e.g. GLD789) — unique to a single team. Entering this skips the dashboard and drops you straight onto that team's roster.

How to get your unique login

Codes are issued by the league administrator and linked to your club and team records. If you're a captain and don't yet have your code, please contact your league secretary or the FairPlay Bowls administrator and confirm your team name — they'll generate a club code and a per-team captain code for you. Keep your captain code private; it's the key to your team's data.

What you can do inside the Captain Portal

  • Club Dashboard — an overview of every team in your club, grouped by league, with quick access to cup fixtures.
  • Team Roster — view your full squad with live ratings, handicaps, and handicap status (Qualified / Provisional / Pending). You can also edit your roster line-up.
  • Captain Fixtures — see your league fixtures and enter per-game results after each match. Either team's captain can submit; the first submission locks the fixture, with admin override available.
  • Player Rankings — rank your squad by handicap, total wins, or win rate to help with team selection and cup draws.

Login at /captain-login. If you run into any issues or believe a code has been compromised, contact a moderator straight away so it can be reissued.

General

Welcome to the FairPlay Bowls community forum! :bowls:

This is a place for players, captains and fans of the Birkenhead Evening League and Bebington League to talk bowls — fixtures, results, handicaps, cup draws and everything in between. To keep it friendly and useful for everyone, please follow the guidelines below.

:target: Do

  • Be respectful. Debate the game, not the person. Banter is welcome; abuse is not.
  • Keep it relevant. Post in the right category (Birkenhead League, Bebington League, Cups & Tournaments, Handicaps & Rules, General, Off Topic).
  • Share knowledge. Questions about how handicaps work, how to read the averages, or how cup draws are made are all welcome — and answered.
  • Use real names kindly. We track public league results, but please don't post private contact details or single anyone out for criticism.
  • Enjoy the emojis. Use the bowls emoji picker :jack: :bowl: :measure: :scorecard: to spice up your posts.
  • Report problems. If something looks wrong in the data or a post is out of order, flag it to a moderator.

:x: Don't

  • No personal attacks, swearing or harassment. This will result in posts being removed and access being revoked.
  • No spam or self-promotion. Off-topic advertising has no place here.
  • Don't post match results before they're official. Let the sync pipeline publish them first.
  • Don't share private data. Phone numbers, addresses, or anything covered by GDPR — including requesting another player's removal (use the Request Removal page instead).
  • Don't troll the handicaps. The system is transparent for a reason; if you disagree with a figure, raise it constructively under Handicaps & Rules.

:measure: A few rules

  1. Membership is approved. New accounts are reviewed by an admin before they can post.
  2. Moderators' decisions are final. Posts can be edited or removed at any time to keep the forum healthy.
  3. One account per person.

2026 Bebington league season end report

Bebington League

Bebington League 2026: The Season of Giants

What a spectacular campaign. From the manicured greens of the Wirral to the final woods rolled in the twilight, the 2026 Bebington League season has been one for the history books. Let’s break down the drama.

League Champions

  • Division A: Gladstone (19W, 0L). A flawless, invincible campaign; Gladstone didn't just win the league, they conquered it with a perfect record.
  • Division B: Lever Club B (14W, 5L). Showing incredible nerves in the home stretch, Lever Club B edged out a fierce three-way battle at the top.
  • Division C: Sea Dog (14W, 6L). A gritty, determined performance saw Sea Dog navigate a congested leaderboard to claim the divisional title.

Top Performers

  • John Finch (Gladstone): "The Untouchable." With a 100% win rate and a staggering aggregate difference of 203, Finch was the undisputed titan of the top flight.
  • Paul Harris (Sea Dog): "The Scoring Machine." A perfect 19-0 record and a monumental 244 aggregate difference makes Harris the most dominant force we’ve seen in years.
  • Bill Dow (Tixall B): "The Sniper." Operating with surgical precision, Dow finished with a 95% win rate, serving as the heartbeat of the Tixall B charge.
  • George Goulding (Gladstone B): "The Breakout Star." With a 94% win rate and an aggregate lead of 110, Goulding proved he is a force to be reckoned with.
  • Mick Andrews (Gladstone): "The Iron Wall." Anchoring the Gladstone juggernaut, Andrews’ 94% win rate proved vital to their historic undefeated season.

Best 6 Home & Best 6 Away Averages

The premier measure of individual dominance, this award recognizes the players who consistently commanded the green, regardless of the venue.

  • Division A: John Finch (Gladstone) — An astonishing aggregate difference of 166.
  • Division B: Mike Hayden (Little Sutton) — A commanding aggregate difference of 133.
  • Division C: Paul Harris (Sea Dog) — A league-leading aggregate difference of 191.

Promotion & Relegation Picture

  • Division A: Gladstone sit at the summit, while Albany faced a difficult season, finishing at the foot of the table.
  • Division B: Lever Club B claim top honours, with Oxton Cons B struggling to find their rhythm at the bottom.
  • Division C: Sea Dog lead the way, while Port Sunlight C conclude a challenging campaign in last place.

Season Highlights

The 2026 season will be remembered for the sheer audacity of Gladstone. To go through an entire Division A season without a single loss is the kind of stuff legends are made of. While the rest of the pack fought for scraps, John Finch and his teammates treated the green like their own private kingdom, dismantling opponents with clinical efficiency.

Conversely, Division B provided us with the ultimate nail-biter. Lever Club B, Little Sutton, and Arno Tixall were locked in a breathless pursuit for the crown, separated by nothing more than the margin of a few woods. It was a race that went right down to the wire, testing the temperament of every player involved. In the end, Lever Club B’s ability to secure the necessary points proved the difference between glory and heartbreak.

Looking Ahead

As the sun sets on the 2026 season, the clubs turn their attention to the winter break. With promotion and relegation battles settled, all eyes are already on the green for the 2027 curtain-raiser. We’ll see you at the opening roll!

Birkenhead ladies league season end report.

Birkenhead League

Birkenhead Ladies Afternoon Bowls: 2026 Season Review

The sun sets on the 2026 Birkenhead Ladies Afternoon crown green season, and what a campaign it has been. From the meticulously manicured greens to the final, tense measurements, the skill on display has been nothing short of extraordinary. Let’s take a look back at the heroes and the drama that defined this unforgettable year.

League Champions

Division 1: Gladstone (21 Wins, 1 Loss). An utterly dominant display of bowling, closing the season with a commanding 63 points to secure the title.

Division 2: West Kirby B (15 Wins, 3 Losses). A gritty, high-stakes performance that saw them edge out the competition to claim the top spot with 45.5 points.

Top Performers

Across both divisions, several individuals rose above the rest, demonstrating nerves of steel and unmatched precision.

The Aggregate Titan (Sue Nugent, Melrose A): **Boasting an incredible aggregate difference of 318, Sue proved that while others play the game, she dictates the scoreboard.

The Strategic General (Katrina Lockwood, Gladstone):** With a division-leading 55.56% win rate, Katrina was the heartbeat of the Gladstone championship machine.

The Pinpoint Specialist (Ann Scott, Meols B): **A force to be reckoned with in Division 2, Ann combined a high win rate with a massive +278 aggregate difference.

The Fortress Guardian (Debbie Phillips, Pensby C):** With a 53.33% win rate and a +250 aggregate difference, Debbie stood tall as the ultimate defensive anchor in the second tier.

Promotion & Relegation Picture

It was a season of polar opposites at both ends of the table. Gladstone stands tall as the undisputed kings of Division 1, while Thingwall unfortunately anchors the bottom of the table. In Division 2, West Kirby B takes the crown, while Meols B concludes their campaign at the foot of the standings. The movement between divisions will undoubtedly shake up the landscape for 2027.

Season Highlights

The 2026 season will long be remembered for the sheer inevitability of Gladstone’s charge. To lose only a single match in an entire 22-game season is a feat of sporting excellence rarely seen on the Birkenhead greens. They didn't just win; they suffocated their opponents, building an insurmountable 63-point cushion that set the gold standard for the competition.

Elsewhere, the drama in Division 2 was palpable. The battle between West Kirby B and Port Sunlight B went right down to the wire, separated by a mere point as the final ends were played out. It was a testament to the depth of talent in the lower division, where every single bowl carried the weight of a championship dream. Across the board, the standard of play continues to climb, ensuring that every Tuesday afternoon was an event, not just a fixture.

Looking Ahead

As we stow the woods and tidy the clubhouse, one thing is certain: the bar has been raised. We look forward to seeing who will rise to the challenge when the greens reopen for the 2027 season. Keep those bowls polished!

🏆 How Fantasy Player Prices Are Generated

💰 1. Players Are Priced Within Their Division

Players are grouped within their own division. This means the best performers in each division sit towards the top of the price range, rather than being compared against every player across the entire league.

🔥 2. Current Form Matters

Each player's current-season form is calculated using their win rate, average winning margin and total wins.

Players need at least 5 matches to qualify. This prevents someone with only a handful of games from suddenly becoming one of the most expensive players.

📈 3. Career Rating + Current Form

A player's career rating provides the foundation for their price, while current form can push their value higher or lower.

Form gradually becomes more important as a player builds up matches, reaching its maximum influence after 12 matches.

This means a short hot streak won't instantly send an unproven player to the top of the market.

🏅 4. Players Are Ranked Into Price Bands

Players are ranked against others in their division and placed into percentiles.

The very best players receive an elite pricing band, with meaningful gaps between closely matched stars. This prevents managers from simply picking a team full of almost-identical elite players.

B-team players also receive a ranking adjustment so that they are priced below similarly-rated A-team players.

💷 5. The Ranking Is Converted Into a Price

The player's percentile is then converted into their fantasy value using a pricing curve.

The result is a price range of approximately £4m–£18m.

The curve deliberately creates bigger gaps between elite players while keeping the middle and lower tiers affordable — meaning there are genuine bargains to be found.

⚽ THE RESULT: £100M BUDGET

With a £100m budget for a 10-player squad, the very best players cost around £18m each.

That means you can't simply buy all the biggest stars.

Instead, managers have to balance their squad between elite players, reliable performers and potential bargains.

🎯 The aim is simple:

Build the strongest team possible — but make your £100m budget work harder than everyone else's.»

Feedback, Concerns & Questions About the App

General

**Feedback, Concerns & Questions About the App ** Hi everyone 👋

I wanted to start a thread to get some honest feedback from everyone using the app.

There are some things I really like about it, but I also have a few concerns and questions about where the app is heading and how useful it will be long-term.

A few things I'd like people's opinions on:

• What features do you think the app is currently missing? • Is there anything that feels confusing, difficult to use or unnecessary? • Do you think the stats and player information are useful enough? • Would you actually use features such as player comparisons, form guides, rankings or head-to-head records? • Is there anything you currently use another app/website for that you would like to see built into this one? • What would make you want to use the app every week rather than just checking results? • For league organisers, what would genuinely save you time or make running your league easier? • Are there any concerns about privacy, accuracy of results/stats or how player data is displayed? • What would make the app worth paying for from a league organiser's point of view?

I'm particularly interested in honest criticism, not just positive feedback. If something isn't working or you think an idea is pointless, say so.

The aim is to make this something that is genuinely useful to bowlers and league organisers, rather than just another place to view a league table.

So if you could change one thing about the app right now, what would it be?
